Andrei Rodionenco: "2016 Olympics is the main goal for us"

Russian head coach Andrei Rodionenco stated in a telephonic interview taken by R-Sport that the Russian Gymnastic Federation main goal for the gymnasts is the 2016 Olympics. 

"Medals tournament there are nice and good but our main goal are the Olympics. By the second half of the 2015 we should be ready for it. Then we will know the gymnasts who are worthy based on their performances. So now we need to treat injuries but in the same time to compete for winning medals"

        In a ceremony that took place on December the 6th, the people of Samara had the opportunity to admire the medals that will be awarded in the Winter Olympic games in Sochi.
         Evgenia Sazarova the representative of the jewellery company that manufactured the awarding medals stated that "Russia is the first country in the world which gave to people the opportunity to see the medals before the Olympic games. As we are in the proximity of these medals we want to share them with everyone"
         Invited to attend to the ceremony, Russia former elite gymnast Anna Dementyeva was pleased to show the medals in her hometown. "These medals represent hard labour and persistent. I'm very pleased to keep these medals in my hand"

Tatiana Nabieva has confirmed her retirement

Sad news comes from Russia these days, since Tatiana Nabieva, member of the Russia National Team has confirmed her retirement. The news was brought by Alan Owen from Tatiana herself. Alan is the admin of Tatiana official fan page on Facebook and also admin of her official site. 


Tatiana will retire from competitive gymnastics, but she will not say goodbye to gymnastics since she had declare her intentions of becoming a coach. 

As a gymnasts Tanya won several medals most important one was the silver on Uneven Bars in 2011 Tokyo World Championship. She also won the gold medal in team competition at the same World Championship. The European championship in Birmingham was a successful competition for Tanya who won 3 medals there gold with the Russian team, silver on Uneven Bars and bronze on Vault. 2013 meant a comeback for her, Summer Universiade been her first competition after she struggled with injuries. She contribute to Russia team gold medal and she also won a silver medal of UB after Aliya Mustafina. In august Tanya dominated the Russian Cup.

We will all miss Nabs but we are also confident that she will become a great coach.

Aliya Mustafina won the "Silver Doe"

            During the awarding ceremony of the best athletes and coaches of 2013 organised by the Russian Ministry of Sports and the Federation of Sports Journalists of Russia, gymnast Aliya Mustafina won the "Silver Doe" for her sport performances this year. Along with her other athletes were awarded with the same title Natalia Bolshakov (rowing, Paralympic sport), Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov (figure skating), Khadzhimurat Gatsalov (wrestling), Yuliya Efimova (swimming), Dmitry Musersky ( volleyball), Svetlana Romashin (synchronized swimming), Svetlana Shkolin (athletics), Denis Yuskov (speed skating).
             The award for the Best Athlete of the Year has been won by Yelena Isinbayeva.

Aliya Mustafina nominee for the athlete of the year award

         Russian news paper rsport.ru informs us that the Russian Ministry of Sport has announced the nominee for the sports national awards for the 2012-2013 season. 


        Gymnastics is represented by Aliya Mustafina who is nominee as the best female athlete along with the athlete Yelena Isinbayeva, the skater Tatiana Volosozhar, snowboarder Ekaterina Tudegesheva and swimmer Yuliya Efimova. 

         Winner will be choose from 4 categories "Hope of Russia" the best sports school, a better organization of the adaptive sports), "For the service of sport" (for his contribution to the development of physical culture and sports), "The Age of the sport" (over many years for the benefit of the development of sports in the country) and "Overcoming" (for his contribution to the development of adaptive sports, the best athlete, the best athlete, the best coach).

The winners were chosen yesterday December the 16th but by the time we wrote this article we fail to find out details about the winners. We will keep you update no doubt. 

Anna Rodionova "I like everything on Round Lake"

      During her latest interview, Russian national member Anna Rodionova spoke about the conditions on Round Lake, her performance on Antwerp World Championship and her wishes for 2014. 
        Rodionova told sportbox.ru that "I like everything on Round Lake. The conditions of living and working there are wonderful. Therefore, every training is fun." 

      Despite being Russia youngest competitor on this year World Championship, Anna finished the All Around competition on the 16th place and on the beam final she finished last. The result didn't discourage her as she knows that she must work hard on improving her routines. On the other hand she doesn't have a favourite element.      
       "Participation at the World Championship was the highlight of this year for me. The atmosphere was wonderful. I still need to improve my routines" 
      For 2014, Anna wishes to win a medal even if she admits that she must very hard to obtain it.

Tatina Nabieva won the Tournoi International du Pas de Calais (images)

    Tatiana Nabieva won the individual competition, while on the team competition she and her team mate placed second right after France. As we managed to find out the competition was held on 12 and 13th of December in Calais, France
